Doctoral Researcher - Project Manager Silk Road Cultural Heritage Resource Information System.

Ona Vileikis is a Colombian-Lithuanian Architect (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia, 2002) with international experience in heritage and conservation. She holds a M.A. in World Heritage Studies from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus, Germany (2008). These studies were accompanied by study and research in Australia as part of the Master in Tourism Planning (University of Western Sydney, 2006-2007) and an internship at ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property), Rome. She is currently a Doctoral Researcher at the Raymond Lemaire International Centre for Conservation (RLICC), K.U. Leuven working on the development of a monitoring model for serial transnational World Heritage properties, focused on the Central Asia Silk Roads case study. Ona is also Project Manager of the Silk Roads Cultural Heritage Resource Information System (CHRIS), a three year project set up in consultation with the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office (BELSPO) and the UNESCO WHC, Paris, aiming to support the Serial Transnational Nomination of the Silk Roads in Central Asia and contributing in bridging the gap between technology and heritage decision makers. She is also a member of ICOMOS.
